Sekenani Camp

Item Code: 11-9550

Sekenani Camp was established in 1989 by Jean Marie Sabin and Nick Wood. It began very simply. In those days the tents were on the ground and bathroom facilities were rudimentary. At night the camp was lit by hurricane lamps. In 1992 the transformation to a luxury camp began. The tents were raised onto platforms with wooden floors and full-length bathtubs were installed in each tent. These were the first tents with bathtubs to be constructed in Kenya. A generator was added to provide electricity. The camp has continued to evolve over the years.

Sekenani Camp is 90 kilometers from Narok town and 250 kilometers from Nairobi.  The drive time from Nairobi is about 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic.  For those wishing to go by air the closest airstrip is at Keekorok.  The flight from Nairobi takes about fifty minutes.  The Maasai Mara is linked by scheduled air services to Nairobi, the coast and other destinations within Kenya.
